Tracy Hall Brigham Young University High Pressure Laboratory Brigham Young University B-41 Provo, Utah 84602 Dear Dr. Hall: During my visit with you regarding our program to determine equilibrium phase diagrams of selected lubricants, we discussed the possibility of your assisting us in encapsulating lubricants in Indium capsules. We would like for you to furnish us ten (10) or twelve (12) such capsules and a simple die to produce more here at Dayton. The dimensions of the capsule must be .250 +.000 -.0005 inch diameter by 3/8" long. Please let us know when you can provide these, at your convenience of course. You also mentioned possible sources for carbide parts when we need replacements. If you could suggest some sources for precision carbide parts, we would appreciate this information also. I hope you are feeling well and enjoying further success. Also, best wishes to your family. Sincerely Kurt C. Rolle Assistant Professor KCR/mbw H. Tracy Hall 1711 No. Lambert Ln Provo, Utah 84601 Kurt C. Rolle Assistant Professor Department of Mechanical Engineering University of Dayton Dayton, Ohio 45469 Dear Kurt: I have received your letter of April 27th regarding the Indium capsules. t will start work today on making proper dies to make the 0.250 + .000 -.0005 inch diameter by 3/8 inch long capsules. It always takes some experimenting to get the dies just right to do the job properly. I presume that the dimensions that you have given are outside dimensions. I will try to make the wall thickness 0.015 inch. It should take about a month to have the dies and capsules to you. With regard to sources for tungsten carbide parts, I have had good success with the following: Metal Carbides Corporation 6001 Southern Blvd. Youngstown, Ohio 44512 Hydrocarbides Corporation P. 0. Box 363 Latrobe, Pennsylvania 15650 They may give you better service and price if you mention my name. I have been procuring carbide for my work from these companies for many years. Best regards,
